On n8, the ice bar will have to make way for its little mechanical brother, The Cooling Show. Displayed as centerpiece in the historical The-atrium Anatomicum, The Cooling Show is a mechanical Vodka bar whose bartender is a vodka-mixing robot. The robot is designed by Richard Trevors.
Richard Trevors:”The idea for creating a Russian robot bartender was born one night when I was watching a TV documentary on Russian space shuttles."
"They showed the crew of the Sputnik returning home. Whenone of Russian astronauts walked out of the Sputnik, the first thing he requested for was an ice-cold Vodka. That’s how I associated space with Vodka. Vodka is an adventurous drink and suits the idea of exploring the universe."
In time,Trevors installed a music programme. Now the robot canalso sing Russian songs with a ‘singing face’.
We serve straight shots and cocktails. The drinks each represent aspects of life;’ the flying time’= for people who want time to fly like an eagle. ‘Time to be’= for people who want to live in the future-and keep their dreams on ice.
The bar has become an all-in-one spacebar that seems to suit all tastes. Space is the place and Vodka the fuel.
